FUNGI KINGDOM

Fungi are heterotrophic beings. Most of them are multi-cellular but do not have tissues. We can classify fungi into three groups:

  • Microscopic fungi live in water and damp soil. Some of them are unicellular, like yeasts (levaduras). Some are parasitic and live off animals and plants. (Investiga cómo nos aprovechamos de algunos microorganismos para producir alimentos).
  • Mould (moho) often appears on rotting fruti or bread. It has filaments and it is usually green or greyish.
  • Setas que pueden ser comestibles (mushrooms) o venenosas (toadstools). They are only a part of a fungus. They are the part which is used for reproduction. If you carefully pull up a mushroom you will see that at the base there are filaments which looks like roots and they feed off organic matter (roots, leaves, excrements...)

  • Las setas (animación).
